Thanks for the comments ixtab and knc1!

Well yes, that was a post written in the heat of the moment, so it's pretty much a rant. In my defense I try to be creative, so that at least it's entertaining ... maybe only to me, when I come back and visit later.

There's no prob with your comments, ixtab. It's useful to know I can come across as "not caring" while in this mood. Generally, I do care actually, but I need to have a cooler head. Also I suppose I'm new to this world of Kindle too.

knc1: thanks, that clarification is very useful. I was pressing the wrong button.

It would now seem that I've bricked the device. That may appear obvious to others, but I'm not happy accepting it. I guess, if I could guess the cause, it's may be the excessive number of random keypresses I gave it, but it could also be my flakey version of the Diags.

Still, even with a cool head, I don't think navigating the Diags menu is for the faint-hearted. I'm going to go ahead with Kubrik, then, which I have downloaded from your server ixtab.
