Ratings in Tag Browser Not Updated After Bulk Edit Metadata

I hope someone can point me to what I'm doing wrong and I describe this ok. I'm using v1.1 of Calibre, with the new back end database switch turned on under Windows 7. I am doing some cleanup of ratings and tags using the bulk and individual edit metadata functions of a very large library. When I change the ratings in the bulk edit metadata screen, the ratings in tag browser don't update all the time. I had to close and the rerun Calibre for the ratings counts to be corrected. For example:
I selected all books with a star rating. I used the bulk edit metadata and changed the ratings field to 0 stars from no change. I made sure the refresh book list is checked. I then clicked on OK. When I looked at the ratings in tag browser, there were still numbers beside the ratings. I then used the tag browser to filter my library by those books with ratings, and went in to edit metadata individually to go change those that did not change, thinking that some had not changed by the bulk edit metadata function for some reason. All the books had been changed, it's just that the ratings in the tag browser hadn't been refreshed. I had to close and then reopen Calibre before the numbers were refreshed properly.
Am I missing something that should be turned off or on somewhere? I have a very large library which I'm working on, and don't really want to have to open and close Calibre after each time I use the bulk edit metadata function to have the tag browser updated properly.
I have found this happening when I tried to remove and add tags (ie. remove sports, food, etc. and add autobiography) as well. I removed a whole bunch of tags from a stack of books, and then added one to all of them. The books were changed, but the tag browser wasn't updated.
