Hardware wise, I have a feeling that the upgrade is a baby-step like the improvement between basic Kindle 2011 to basic Kindle 2012. Not really noticeable unless perhaps you compare it side by side.
EDIT: never mind, it does use Carta epaper technology, so there may be noticeable improvement. We'll see.
