For me, the addition of the ability to read ebooks contained in PDB files, is of much greater value. The fact that Koreader uses a simple File Manager and can be set to read hidden files (so my large file structure can avoid Nickel's processing) are the critical factors, again "in my humble opinion". The ability to browse through an organized listing of books and find what I feel like reading, is of value to me.

I quite agree that PDF and DjVu make for lousy ebooks. But they are ebooks nonetheless, and most philosophical works are available digitally only as scanned books (with or without OCR). To convert them to epub takes more time and effort than printing and binding. Hence, the importance for me of pdf and DjVu.
And a tablet is not really an option when reading for longer than 30 minutes.
