Yes. Since you just want an "in case" copy buy your books and send them to your Kindle in the usual manner. Save a second copy to Calibre and use the tools to disinfect DRM - because if Amazon ever deleted your books sometime in the future you have no guarantee that you'd still have access to the correct device to open a back-up copy that was locked by device specific DRM.

Saving that second copy only takes about 10 seconds.
