I think I have seen one at about 30cm, that was the first one we had in the house. Early one morning just after Mrs headed for the bathroom I heard a shrill scream. She doesn't often scream so I figured it was serious. There was one of these in the handbasin, couldn't get out 'cos of slippery sides. I got it into a bucket and released it some way from the house but I saw one of a similar size dead a few days later, not in the same place, so I think the birds got it, though if they did they didn't eat it.
I'm quite glad we almost never see them.
