Incidentally, in the past, it has been a little challenging to figure out how to download the EPUB from Google, although their recent redesign makes it a little easier:
Go to
http://play.google.com/books and it will show all of your purchased books. If you hover over the book you want download, three dots will appear in the upper right hand corner of the cover. Click that and one of the menu options is "Download EPUB" and/or "Download PDF".
The old way was to go to the product page and click on "How to read" and it offered download links on that page after you'd purchased. Here's the Help article from Google on downloading to eReaders:
