Perhaps you should consider moving on. LIT has been abandoned by MS.

The VMWARE suggestion is excellent. Install windows 7 or XP and remove DRM on your books. You never know when MS will decide to kill the DRM servers.

DeDRM and convert to ePub while you can.

I lost books to exactly that situation a while back.
