You might try Jan Dunlap's Bob White murder mysteries. Bob White is a birder, and all of the books have a bird watching sub-theme. I believe the first is The Boreal Owl Murder.

Interestingly, they do not appear to be currently available from Amazon for the Kindle, but they are available for Nook from Barnes & Noble.
