Hello!
My reader, which had been running 2.1.5 perfectly fine, went nuts and required a factory restore. After downloading the newest firmware (on Aug 12, so I'm assuming it's the newest), I sideloaded my 1,088 ebooks on my microSD card, the KT rebooted and installed them all. I started reading my current ebook, but noticed that the cover wasn't displaying properly when in sleep mode. I went on vacation, used the reader, noticing that the power was decreasing quickly. I powered off and tried to power back on, hoping this would fix it.
However, the powering on got stuck on the screen with the little squares to the point where I had to use the paper clip reset. This happened about 5 times. Finally I removed the sd card and it booted fine. I reinserted the sd card and it froze again. I borrowed my husband's work laptop, moved all my ebooks over to the laptop and reformatted my SD card. That didn't help, and the reader actually stopped responding at all to the computer. I did a factory reset back to my hardwired firmware (as I bought it in Aug 2011 it's old) and was able to move some books onto the reader itself. I couldn't install any newer firmware as my husband's work laptop doesn't have Kobo on it. The old firmware works pretty well, but I'm wondering what the HECK happened to the reader with this new firmware???
Has this happened to anyone else? I just got back home today, I want to finish my book before I attempt to reinstall the current firmware. However, I am SO frustrated with the Kobo that I contemplated going to Barnes and Noble and buying a Nook while on vacation and trashing the Kobo. If this is a real problem now with the Kobo I may look into a Sony.
