As an extreme, an author once wrote a romance novella with a hero/heroine and later self-published a revised edition as a ménage story. Just no!

Seems to me it would be smarter to just include a note ("Dear Reader" kind of thing?) and make it a kind of fun thing. "Do you remember what it was like when we didn't all have cell phones and you had to find a pay phone that was still working?" I mean, update it by putting a cell phone in her hand, then you have to explain why she didn't call someone when her car broke down, or whatever. Where do you stop?
And...really?? MF to MFM (or MMF)? It's
definitely a different story when you add new lovers! Yikes.
And OT...I'm happy to call myself a curmudgeon. I like to think of it as a sign that I don't spend all my time worrying about what other people will think, so I just say what I'm thinking!
