You're not a curmudgeon, we all like different things and have our own opinions!
I think at times you and I have very similar tastes and I really think you will like the story itself though... I'm guessing the first 'steamy' version if I know you at all.? And maybe you'll enjoy the story enough to forget about the shenanigans...
But I agree overall, I don't do 'alternate endings' or 'shenanigans' either
