it is this way since 2.6.1 (for me) and is related to using an SD card, which I also prefer.

I just keep it in sleep mode always (unless there is a good reason to turn it off)... if you do turn it off, BE PATIENT! Don't say, oh, it's frozen, time for a reset or factory reset. It just takes time and is not really frozen. The more books the longer this initial boot takes.

Maybe they will fix this in another firmware, but it's not the device, it's the firmware, so don't bother trying to exhange for that reason.

You can either keep in sleep mode or put your books in main memory or keep minimal books on the SD card. For me the best solution is to keep in sleep mode. I don't use wifi much, but my battery still lasts 2-3 weeks only using sleep mode, so unless this is a huge issue, I would recommend this solution until things get fixed.
