No, the Kindle reading app is the standard Android app. Nothing different about it. The difference between the Fire and a standard Android tablet is really ease of access to your Amazon content. If you want to use the device primarily as an Amazon content consumption device (which is really the main use Amazon target it for) it's a lot easier to access your content on the Fire than on other devices. If that's not your primary use-case, you may be better off with a more generic device.
