question about reading on the fire

Hi in the next month I will take the leap into a 7 inch tablet. I hear a new fire is in the works and am wondering, is the reading experience basically the same as on any other android tablet? For instance is there anything special about a kindle fire's kindle reader that I would not find on the reader on say a nexus 7?

Just wondering because obviously all things being equal I would prefer a full android app store experience which from what I gather the kindle fire (old and presumable the new one too) do not offer. Thanks for listening.
