The fix I have done is to edit the book and make the link bigger. I think I changed it to the word or phrase the footnote was for. But, again, that probably isn't that practical.
It might be possible to add some CSS to make the links bigger. The simple way would be to make them use a bigger font size. Or it might be possible to add extra space as part of the link. Both of these would change the look of the text. And they depend on how the links are coded.

Davidfor: i appreciate your remarks/explanation of the footnoting problem -- though the situation doesn't look overly optimistic for a fix. The help squad at Kobo seemed quite at a loss about it all. Thanks.
