Where I live, grubs, bugs, worms, etc. are the normal 'after-school' treat for kids, and sold by vendors with carts outside the school gates. You can also find them sold in all the local markets. The grubs and larva are very, very sweet! Personally, I prefer a KitKat bar...

I think that in general, the sellers are in too much of a hurry getting their product to the marketplace to beat out the competition. There isn't enough time spent de-bugging the products. Or, as the case with automobiles, the makers know that there are defects, but cost-analysis says it's better to sell the product now, and deal with the problems later.
