Calibre is the best solution I found. It allows you to Convert PDFs, Docs, and other formats to MOBI (Kindle format)
You simply click on a file then hit "Send to Device". And can remove them the same way.
The only issue I have found is when you convert sometimes you get glitches, and the type is set a little wonky, but not unreadable.
