The general reason for newly-added books not appearing is that one book gets stuck while indexing.
Remove the books you've added, then re-add them in small batches, and allow each batch to complete indexing before adding the next.
To see if you have unindexed books, go to the home screen and do a search for a nonsense string. If there are unindexed books it'll come back and say "NN items currently unindexed".
