A bittersweet tribute to the unsung pixies without whom we wouldn't be talking to each other today.
Disclaimer: It was written when I was using Windows 2000. Windows 8 users should still find the rather harsh conclusion topical.
The Puter Fairy
by Ken Hagal
So young were you, oh, sweet, little, Fairy,
When torn from your Hills, Friends and Family,
By four-eyed troll on a raid from Redmond,
Locked you up in puter, didn't give no reason.
So strained are you oh sweet little Fairy,
as the power quakes you into duty,
Shoving the trons with your sore tiny hands,
Until, switched off, your ordeal finally ends
So brave are you, oh, sweet, little, Fairy.
Peering through screen, never showing Envy,
Pucked Sysyphus of the Silicon Age,
Enduring, silent, your nameless Outrage
But dumb are you, oh, sweet, little, Fairy.
Loading yourself, like a bleached Blondie,
With extraneous loads of bugs and Spam,
Unaware how to us these bytes do Harm.
Are you really sweet, little Fairy?
Wouldn't you by any chance find it Funny?
To leave us dazed with our mouth wide Gapping,
As you crash' ours of work without Rueing
Does it matter oh, sweet, little Fairy
Should your case anyhow call for Mercy?
Sooner than later, you're bound to yank a Nerve.
It seems you're getting the Fate you Deserve.
