Went through the the dismissal function again, after your last reply. Ejected Glo then opened a book and all but one of the tiles have now been "dismissed". It appears that opening a book triggers the tile removal. Seems that I was misunderstanding its operation.
Don't worry, it took me a while to work out when things actually were dismissed. Mostly they disappear when I used the plugin function and eject, but I usually have also sent a new book. That will trigger the home screen update.

Only one I am left with now and seem unable to get rid of is the synch tile.
I don't like the Sync tile. I don't like the fact that Kobo have a dismiss option for it, it puts itself in the first column and stays there, and it seems to be stickier than the any of the other tiles. Usually, it disappears when I do something that adds a new tile to the screen. But sometimes it doesn't. I haven't worked out a pattern for when it does and doesn't disappear.
