I think another reason the process was slow for me is because most of my book covers are between 200-300 KB each. I think most people have their book covers under 100 KB each. Mine are large because I try to use high res covers up to 2100 pixels on the long side and I don't like to compress covers too much. Probably 95% of people are not as picky about covers as I am (some don't even bother with any covers!), so they might not run into the processing slowdown that occurred for me.

I didn't think of that. I have a few books with square covers on my Nook. I took a look at them in the shelf view and you are right. They take up some of that space that the portrait covers don't. And I also prefer not to distort covers. So I think the configuration you have now is the best one.

Looking forward to the first official version 3 release.
