For those of you that don't know what "automotive telematics" means any more than me, here's a couple of links...
*
http://www.automotive-telematics.com/ says "Put simply, telematics is the transmission of useful information (data) to and from a vehicle, and in our modern hi-tech digital world, it's an industry that's mushrooming."
*
http://www.mindbranch.com/products/R601-11.html calls it "bringing the Internet into the car," which is still a broad concept, but must be close to what Access has in mind.
Sounds like they want to be tied into cars, homes, various mobile internet providers like cell phone carriers or wiMax, as well as all kinds of information and media connectivity. Oh yeah, VOIP also. And from their diagram, they must want things like home control and monitoring also.
It's a big picture that's really really, well, BIG!
Personally, I'd just like to be able to see on my smartphone if I left my garage door open or not. I never seem to leave it open, but I often backtrack because I'm not sure!
