The power/sleep switch is on the motherboard, so unless you're really good at soldering/unsoldering miniature components, it'd be easiest to replace the entire motherboard. Unfortunately, because of the design, to be able to remove the mother board, you have to first remove the bezel (front surround) and the most difficult part of the process, the back cover.
