Stopping a firmware upgrade

Hi all

After upgrading firmware on the Kobo Touch caused a nightmare of factory resets and re-loading books a few times, I haven't upgraded for around a year. With a stable version that worked (around v1.9 I think), I haven't been keeping up with this forum.

I accidentally connected to wifi a couple of days ago, and the devious thing managed to download a new version without my consent. I have been told that next time I power off it will be installed.

While looking for a way to avoid upgrading, I noticed that some Aussie devices are a bit problematic, and I think mine is one of these. (I've never managed to transfer books via Calibre, despite doing disk checks etc. Even side loading takes several attempts because the Kobo refuses to process too many at once).

Is there any way I can stop this update installing? I don't know how to even work out the current version firmware that I have, as the Kobo website instructions talk about pressing a menu icon that I don't have.

Somehow I doubt that there is *anything* that I want in this new firmware, especially if I need to re-load books a few times to get it.

EDIT current firmware version is 1.9.17
