I missed this one - I don't use windows explorer as my main file manager, I use xplorer2. And I don't often use the thumbnail view in Windows Explorer or xplorer2. When I'm looking at images my starting point is the iMatch application - think Calibre for images.

I know where your coming from, but... I don't really have a problem with Sort applying to all the books in the View, as I said it could be useful to have the ability do an ad-hoc sort.
That's why I think should in the context menu whether one is looking at the list (details) or the grid (thumbnails), those that don't want it can keep it in the
Available actions list or move it where they want it.
There are more than a few people who don't get the 'click' on column header to sort on it, not only in Calibre, in any application, so they might like it to have it in both places. I use View Manager to do most of the sorting I need.
