It does look like pretty slim pickings - the only three I'd be interested in have been offered in various deals before, so I have them.
I will put in a little plug for Mercury Rises by Robert Kroese, which is totally outside my normal reading (mysteries, non-fiction, and more mysteries), but which I read on a whim after the first one in the series (Mercury Falls) was offered free or cheap a while back. I enjoyed the first one enough to buy and read the others in the series too - this one, Mercury Rises, is the second in the series of three. And there are two novellas in there somewhere too.
The premise for the series is amusing to start with: a reporter for a religious magazine, specializing in "End Times" cults, who after years of reporting on End Times apocalypses which never actually happen, really does stumble across the real Apocalypse about to happen. So then she teams up with Mercury, a decidedly louche more-or-less renegade angel, to try to keep it from happening. (Not a spoiler, since it says this in the blurb for the first book...)
And, I like the wacky, off-beat humor, which reminds me a bit (okay, a lot) of Douglas Adams and the Hitchhikers Guide books.
It is a style that I think folks will either love or hate though, so I recommend you try a sample before you buy. Although for a buck, you might also just take the chance. And, just a heads-up: I'm not quite sure why they are offering the second one in the series at a special price, but I think there is some value in reading them in order. Not mandatory, but it probably would be better.
Anyway, JMTCW....
