Having said that, it's always frustrating to see the typical ignorant romance=porn belief come up again. There are romances available without a bit of sex. And there's erotica without any romance. And then there's the stereotypical "the babysitter made me a man" or "I watched my sister take her showers" porn.
They are not synonymous.

I agree. There is no one type of Romance. Some is erotic and some isn't and Romance and Porn aren't the same thing. When I think of the Romance genre I think of a story with a well defined plot whether or not there is explicit sex but with Porn the story is all about the sexual act that the characters are going to take part in. Plot development and character development take a back seat to the actual sex scene in a porn story, but they don't in a romance. And the difference between Erotica and Porn (IMO) is also in the detail of development. Porn just deals with the act of sex but Erotica while it has to do with a sex act also has more development in the story line.
