Funny you should mention getting drunk on Brighton beach... last time I did exactly that (my student days) someone came up behind me and hit me over the head with a large rock (long story). And you probably aren't too familiar with Brighton beach, but it's not somewhere you would want to sleep , as it is all stones with no soft sand to be found. Now I did spend two weeks touring France and slept several nights on the beach in St. Tropez which was a whole different experience. Waking in the morning to naked women sprawled about the place was an altogether more pleasant time in my life.
