The Nexus is much more comfortable on the eyes for readying and so far the battery life has been pretty good, but so far I've only surfed and read. It remains to be seen what games will do to it. My GT was starting to have some weird battery drains and it heated up significantly when recharging. I'm still adjusting to the slightly smaller screen on the Nexus but the thing is super light and easy to hold in one hand. I would definitely recommend it.

Don't forget the Screen Dim app for night use it's available at the Play Store and Amazon app store. Developer is a member here and it works great! I use it on all my Android tablets.
My Samsung Galaxy Player 5 started having battery issues. I found it was either one of three apps. Facebook, Copy.com or Happily Ever After Blog by USA Today. I uninstall them then did a reboot and seems to be fixed. It was down to 5% in standby in two days. I plan to put Copy back on and see if it comes back. My Money is on the other two apps as the culprit.
