The Nexus is much more comfortable on the eyes for readying and so far the battery life has been pretty good, but so far I've only surfed and read. It remains to be seen what games will do to it. My GT was starting to have some weird battery drains and it heated up significantly when recharging. I'm still adjusting to the slightly smaller screen on the Nexus but the thing is super light and easy to hold in one hand. I would definitely recommend it.
Dear Author is giving away a Nexus 7 for their August giveaway.

I want to get my mom a tablet. She won't go on a computer at all. I've offered to let her borrow my laptop, but she doesn't. I think she may take to a tablet though. She does some stuff on her smart phone, but the screen is so tiny she gets frustrated.
