Thanks for the tip. I've been wrong before. For example, I really thought Henning Mankell's Wallander mysteries were irredeemably dry and boring - glad I gave them another shot because I'm really enjoying the series now.
If certain books have lofty reputations, and it's something I really expected to like & didn't, I tend to think it was me that was the problem and want to give them another shot. LOTR certainly qualifies for another go. Then again, I gave the Jasper Fforde Thursday Next series another try, and still hated it :-)
