Yes, exactly that. You'll need to install a Calibre plug-in first (Google for "Apprentice Alf" to find it). Once you've done that the process is totally transparent.
All you do is:
Buy the book with "Kindle for PC".
Drag it from the "My Documents\My Kindle Content" folder to Calibre.
Tell Calibre to send it to your Sony.
It really is that simple.
