Ah, but it was a good idea.
These things can become expensive to develop for, when you have to get intrusive into their internal workings without any vendor documentation.
Following your lead, I went shopping for a "cheap" Kpw and found one at a very reasonable price.
Its only problem was that someone had sat on the screen.
The electronic version of a broken off, dog-eared page in your e-book.
Now, with a soon-to-be-on-hand (broken) Kindle Paperwhite, I will be able to dig into its firmware with less concern about "bricking" it forever.
**AND**
If the (broken) Kindle Paperwhite survives my curiosity, I also priced a replacement screen.
