Nope, just a very smart cat. He would put one foreleg across the can to steady it, and then take his other paw and push the tab up, and then take his claws and hook them in the tab and pull it back.
All tools have been picked up and are in the garage.
The girls were so happy to be at boarding. They practically dragged me through the doors, then jumped up and licked all the employees. I bought them each a new toy, and paid for them to get extra treats each day (as long as they do "sit" and "down" properly).
Now, I've just got a ton more housework and work work (shut up, Slayda ....) to finish up before bed. No time for anything except driving to the airport tomorrow.
