I just tried this and it doesn't happen on my Glo. Closing the book's details page returns the view to the same position in the library I was before I opened the details page.
The top margin in ePubs has gone completely. Now I will have to go through my library in Calibre and add back the @page{margin-top:10pt} that I removed after upgrading to 2.5.2. I don't really mind whether the margin is there or not (since I can add it myself if it is missing), but I hope they they will make up their mind and stop changing it.
Edit: Actually there is a very small side and top margin, it is not quite zero. Picture attached of my Glo with margin slider at minimum. (ePub, 2.8.1)

Thanks for this convincing photo.
An option allowing the user to set up its vertical margins would surely be the best choice. Meantime, I am quite happy to learn there is a comeback about vertical margins and I will update my 2.5.1. firmware, dreaming about a way to get rid of the long paragraph bug...
