If pdf does not contain OCRed text but rather scans - I do the OCRing myself too.

I am aware that some people do the opposite - convert other formats to pdf tailored for their reader and to their preferences. But then, no special capabilities are required from the pdf viewer.

The only exception: I use pdfs with sheet music on 9.7" PocketBook.
Because of its weight I rarely use it for anything else.
But that is not reading pdf in the usual sense.
I think I will get that rumored Sony 13.3" whatever it may cost specifically for pdf sheet-music.
Abbey Finereader can split dual-column pdfs. I used to scan pdfs religously, but of late I've found Orion is so good, I get better results reading the pdf native. It's better than 650 under Prs+ except I think it lacks a zoom. The trick is to read in landscape.
