I have no problem reading for hours on my Aura with the light set at 60%. I read for hours on my Glo with the light always on before I got the Aura. I've never had any eye strain or pain from reading with the light on. So apparently reading with the built in light works well for at least some people (your opinion on the topic not withstanding).
