Good morning, everyone. This morning I'm drinking Murchie's
Russian Caravan as a possible replacement for my winter time Peet's Scottish Breakfast tea. While I like the Scottish Breakfast tea, it's just not quite what I want out of a breakfast blend that includes Lapsang Souchong. So, I've been looking for alternatives. And so far, this Russian Caravan is promising. It's a blend of Lapsang Souchong, Darjeeling, and China Black teas. From the taste, I'd have to say that at while some of that China Black is Keemun, there's got to be some other stuff going on there. The overall effect is a smooth, fairly smoky, and quite bright tea with no trace of bitterness. Not a tea for milk, but a good way to start the day. (This initial taste test done at 208F and a 5 minute steep. )
