Exactly. I'm the opposite of you, although I grew up with Heyer and still like the occasional traditional Regency, I actually prefer "Regency lite" (great description by the way  ). I'm with you. I just want to be entertained when I read so I don't care if it's rigidly true to the period. I've read almost all of the 30 Heyer's I've bought over the past 2 years and while I enjoy them the language and the "cant" sometimes makes my head spin.

I don't want to have to think too hard to enjoy a book.
I do like the Tessa Dares and I agree that she's improving over time, I like the Spindle Cove series much better than her first 2 series. Have you tried Miranda Neville yet? She's quickly become a favorite for historicals.
