Personally I think that if you've found a device you want, don't bother waiting for the upgrade. The upgrade may have features which you don't like, rather than ones you do.

I'm not sure about France, but in the UK your statutory rights make an extended warranty just not worth the money. You're covered by consumer rights ("not fit for the purpose"). However, the law may be entirely different in France.
