I've just tested it on my Kindle PW. I opened a book at random, chose a phrase (which happened to be "she lingered awhile at the dark blue front door"), returned to the home screen, and then searched for that phrase. The search took about 15s and returned only the exact match for that phrase. I have 748 books on my Kindle at the moment.
