The book was published by HarperCollins so it has been in the works for a while. I would have thought even if there is some some of family estrangement Janet and her daughter would have worked out a better response to what they had to have known would be a question.

Yeah at first Alex sounded like she never heard of her cousin. They don't sound like a close knit family.
I agree on using her maiden name could make or break her career.
