Imagine this scene...
You re away from home with your 500. You decide to delete a book using the delete a book hack. You try to delete this book only to find that you've accidentally deleted a book that was part of a collection. Your 500 now needs a reset. You don't have a pin or paperclip or anything on you to fit in the hole to push the reset button. Now you finally find a shop to purchase something to push the reset button with. You find that the collection that book was in is no longer able to be navigated to due to the deletion. So until you can get back to the computer to sort things out, you are left with other books unable to be read and you may also look your last page read and even any bookmarks.
Now I don't know exactly what will happen on a 500 when you do delete a book that's in a collection so some of what I put is just a guess based on the usage of my 505. But, I did try this on my 505 and found that I had to hit the reset button, delete the collection, and recreate it.
