Mine is the same. I carried books everywhere I went, even before eReaders. Back when I wore a suit and tie the jacket pockets were the perfect place for a paperback book. Hard backs now, they made it a little more obvious that I had a book with me.
When I traveled for a living my suitcase and briefcase were full of books. I would have killed for an eReader back then. When the suitcase got to full I would box up the books and mail them home. I also tipped sky caps extra because they saved me a lot of money in excess baggage fees.
