The first thing I would recommend is uninstalling the Sony Reader software if you are no longer using it. The PRS-T series readers don't need it - even if you need to re-register your Sony at some point, you can do so from the device itself.

(If you are using the software to download epubs, I suggest switching to Adobe Digital Editions for that instead.)

Since the software is already acting up when the T2 is attached, there could be a conflict that's affecting the USB driver when trying to use it with calibre.

After uninstalling it, restart your computer and see if your calibre transfer speed improves. It may not, but as you are already having issues with the software, I think it's worth a try.
