The black and the white have the same hardware and firmware.
Some people prefer the white because the white frame around the text is like the margin around the text in a paperbook.
Some people prefer the black because the contrast seems better. I have a with reader, but with the sun, the frame is, for me, too bright, I prefer the black frame of my M92.
Search in the forum for the various opinions.
