If you are using your Laptop in the same location as your Tablet, you might be able to bypass the hotels policy (but then, why not just side load).
You might be able to set (carefully) your Laptop to allow ad-hoc (the default is infrastructure) connections. Be sure to set your firewall to only allow incoming from your intended device(s)
