I downloaded Calibre to my laptop in the UK where I live. I downloaded Calibre Companion to my Nexus in Cyprus where I am on holiday. Is this causing the app to fail? Will my Calibre only work with the app in the UK? Sorry if this is a silly question to the more tech savvy people but I want to rule this out. If this is not the problem some help in getting the app to work would be appreciated, thanks, Pat

You need to do more work at the HOST end.
CC (and almost everything else today) works on
a LAN.
Your Router/firewall separates your LAN from the WAN for safety and security (and because your ISP only allows 1 IP

on a connection)
You need to have done:
Assign/reserve a fixed (LAN) IP for the host
Set 'Port Forwarding' (allows a WANside port request to a preset host-server) to the designated IP
Setup a method for obtaining the current WAN IP of your router. (DynDNS type service, ISP provided Static IP, A neighbor with access to your router/WAN that can query it and tell you

what it is right then
