Strange prices shopping on Kindle Touch 3G

I occasionally buy books directly from my Kindle Touch 3G. I've noticed that at times, the Kindle storefront screen will offer a list of deals priced $3.99 or less. When I follow the link, the books aren't always the monthly deals I expect but rather new or popular books priced much higher.

Today I checked the Kindle Daily Deals from my Kindle and I am still being offered yesterday's titles but at the regular non-discounted prices. This is with an active internet connection and several hours past the change of date at Amazon's Seattle headquarters.

Has anyone else experienced this, and do you have any helpful ideas? Thank you.
